Analyzing Delhi Government 2021-22 Economic Budget


Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia presented a Rs 69,000-crore Budget for financial year 2021-22 on  Tuesday. Sisodia announced 75 weeks of  programmes starting March 12th to celebrate 
India's 75th Independence Day in what he termed the "Deshbhakti Budget".

Delhi Presents Its Fourth Status Report of Outcome Budget (2020-2021) :
1. The Revenue Department setup 1914 Hunger Relief Centres, many of them at Government schools, which remained operational for 3 months.

2. A total of 71 lakh existing ration-card holders received free ration from April until November 2020. 
An addi tional 60.4 lakh non-ration card holders were provided free ration in the months of April and May 2020.

3. A total of 60,042 oximeters and over 3,000 oxygen con centrators were provided to patients under Home Iso lation.

4. 18,718 COVID hospital beds, 8,273 beds at COVID Care Centres and 882 beds at Covid Health Centres were provided to Corona patients in Delhi, 
out of which only 11% were occupied by the end of December.

5.Delhi government has so far conducted educational activities for children for a total of 229 days in this session.

6. Food security allowance to all eligible stu dents were paid for the month of March 2020 to June 2020 in lieu of cooked food.

7. Kits of dry ration were provided to the students in lieu of Mid Day Meals.

8. A sum of R5,000 each was provided to 18,111 Permit Holders and 1,38,239 public service vehicle (PSV) badge holders.

9. Delhi has transferred the highest amount of Rs 10,000 each to the regis tered construction workers.

10. Nearly 45,000 construction workers have been registered in Delhi with the Con struction Workers Welfare Board.

Here are the highlights from Delhi's Budget 2021-22:

1. Total outlay of this Budget is 6.1% more than the Budget presented for financial 2020-21 at Rs 69,000 crore
2. Free Covid vaccine scheme at state-run hospitals; special women mohalla clinics
3. Law university, English speaking course on cards for higher education students
4. Rs 16,377 crore, which accounts for one-fourth of the total Budget, was allocated for education
5. Health sector was allotted Rs 9,934 crore of the Budget
6. AAP plans to increase Delhi's per capita income to Singapore's level by 2047, as per Sisodia. A growth of 16% would be required to successfully achieve this goal, he added
Delhi govt allocated Rs 50 crore for free Covid-19 vaccines in state-run hospitals. "Soon, per day vaccination will be increased to 60,000 from 45,000," said Sisodia
Proposal put forward to allocate Rs 45 crore to install high masts to hoist the national flag at 500 places across Delhi .
7.Rs 10 crore has been allocated for programmes on Bhagat Singh's life during the 75-week 'Deshbhakti' events
8. Rs 10 crore allocated for programmes on Baba Saheb Ambedkar during the 'Deshbhakti' events
9. Hundred specialised schools of excellence to be opened across Delhi
